Zero Mass Water’s hydro-panels called ‘SOURCE’ are able to pull potable, clear water directly from the air. The mechanism is innovative to say the least.
The hydro-panels are built on the principle of “hygroscopy” or the science of water vapour. The thermodynamics provided by the solar panels power the capture and purification process. The solar panels help capture water vapour out of the air, filters it using a calcium and magnesium cartridge and stores it for consumption.
SOURCE works by absorbing water from the ambient air onto a special material inside the hydro-panel. The water is collected as pure H2O and is desorbed into an airtight system.
“Across the globe and across the entire socioeconomic spectrum, people need a better choice for drinking water. With pressing issues like access to water, sanitation, scarcity, plastic pollution, aging infrastructure and increasingly dwindling resources, the need is even more pronounced”, the company states.
In a matter of six years, Zero Mass Water’s panels have, so far, been installed in a wide range of places including hurricane-stricken Puerto Rico, and even high-end homes in California. The hydro-panel is now available across the US, Latin America, the Middle East, and in the Asia Pacific region.
